The upcoming Local government elections will be held on Saturday, 14 September 2024.
The 2024 Local Government election is administered by the NSW Electoral Commission.

Are you interested in becoming a Councillor?
The NSW Office of Local Government has launched a dedicated webpage to provide information and resources for candidates in the lead up to the elections.

Nambucca Valley Council will also be hosting candidate information sessions for those considering becoming a Councillor.
A in person session will be held on 3 July 2024 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Council Chambers, 44 Princess Street Macksville.
A live virtual candidate information session hosted on Zoom will be held on 21 July 2024 from 4 PM to 5:30 PM. The link to this session is:

Non-resident voting in a council area
People are eligible to vote as a non-resident in a council area if they are:
- an owner of rateable land in the council area
- an occupier or rate-paying lessee of rateable land in the council area.
Non-residential rolls are prepared and certified by each council's general manager, and the NSW Electoral Commissioner must confirm that the voters listed are eligible for enrolment on the non-residential roll. However, individuals are responsible for checking their eligibility for inclusion in the non-residential roll for council when they make an application.
NSWEC recommends individuals get independent advice if they are unsure about whether they are eligible to apply or not.
Individuals can apply to be included on the non-residential roll of another council area by contacting the local council office or visiting their website. Application forms are here: (closing date for nominations is 5 August 2024)
