Overnight stays in Macksville

Nambucca Valley Council permits overnight stays for travellers in vehicles within rest areas in Macksville. There are four locations permitted and their capacity is:

• 7 vehicle spaces at the Ferry Street Lions Park (Designated 3 caravan/RV and 4 campervan spaces) – NO TENTS PERMITTED
• 4 designated spaces at the Macksville Memorial Aquatic & Fitness Centre (self-contained caravans and RVs only) – NO TENTS PERMITTED
• Limited parallel parking for self-contained caravans and RV’s between posted signs in Princess Street opposite the Council Chambers – NO TENTS PERMITTED
• 4 vehicle spaces in River Street (campervans only) – NO TENTS PERMITTED

Please note time frames do apply to all four locations and are signposted with directions on where vehicles can park, the conditions of use and time frames of maximum stay.

 

Vehicles shall only occupy parking bays of sufficient size to fully accommodate the vehicle. Vehicles can only park in the allocated areas for maximum of one night. Camper trailers, tents, annexes, and the like are not permitted to be erected. All locations are patrolled by Council Rangers with penalties enforced for non-compliance.

 

Recreation vehicles (RVs) and caravans are considered to be self-contained vehicles when sleeping, cooking, and toilet facilities are located within the vehicle and all waste can be collected and disposed of at a lawful location. 

 

There are currently three publicly accessible dump points within the Nambucca Valley. These are located at the Nambucca Valley Visitor Information Centre which is located on the corner of Giinagay Way and Riverside Drive, Nambucca Heads, the Nambucca Highway Service Centre at the Nambucca Heads interchange off the M1 and at Macksville Memorial Aquatic & Fitness Centre 23 Cooper Street, Macksville.

 

Alternative fee paying caravan parks are also available within the Nambucca Valley Area.
