Update Wednesday 26 July 2023 4.30pm
Council engineers have worked with consultants and contractors to find a pavement solution to solve the unsuitable subgrade issue at the CBD. Council staff and contractors will pour a structural concrete slab to bridge the underlying conditions, this is planned for Friday 28 July 2023 commencing at 5.00am. The asphalt pavement works will be programmed to commence as soon as possible after the concrete has cured.
The original schedule of works has therefore been delayed. A new construction schedule will be developed and communicated to the community in the near future.
Update Wednesday 26 July 2023 9.00am
Unfortunately the asphalt works were cancelled again last night due to unforeseen setbacks. We have engaged a consultant Pavement Engineer who will attend the site to finalise a solution moving forward. Wallace Street will remain closed between the intersection of Princess and Cooper Streets.
We hope to have an updated plan later today and this will be communicated as soon as possible.
