Learning to be waste wise is a priority world wide as it is one of the most pressing issues facing humanity today.
Did you know that Australia is the second most wasteful nation in the world? We produce more than 18 million tonnes of waste per year. We are producing more waste than ever before due to the current trend of high consumption and highly specialised packaging, alongside the ever growing mountain of goods discarded by our throwaway society.
Nambucca Shire Council has been proactive in this area by entering into a partnership with Coffs Harbour City and Bellingen Shire Councils and Handybin Waste Services resulting in a regional waste collection service which commenced at the end of 2005 and is known as Coffs Coast Waste Service.
Effective 1 July 2016, the Waste Management Facility's operating hours are 8.00am – 4.00pm 7 days per week. The facility will be closed on Public Holidays. All other closures will be advertised.
Payment methods – EFTPOS, credit card and accounts (by prior arrangement) ONLY. Cash will NOT be accepted.
Coffs Coast Waste Service is the regional waste collection service provider and should you experience any problems with the service such as a missed service or damaged wheelie bins you should contact them direct on 1800 265 495.
Coffs Coast Waste Service provides the following services subject to the requirements of an application being filed and received by Council:
Residents with a genuine disability or who are elderly and can demonstrate they can not wheel the bins out for collection may be eligible for a wheel in wheel out service.
Vision impaired residents may be eligible for tactile symbol bin lids to assist them in determining the correct use of the bins.
Nambucca Shire Council will no longer be offering a kerbside bulky goods collection service.
To replace the kerbside bulky goods collection service, a trial voucher system will be in place. Each household is eligible to receive 2 x vouchers per financial year. Each voucher entitles you to take up to 3m3 (1 box trailer load) of bulky household waste to the Nambucca Waste Management Facility for free disposal. To request your vouchers call the Coffs Coast Waste Service Hotline on 1800265495. They will ask for your name and address and will post the vouchers out to you. The vouchers will have a unique serial number which will be allocated to your address and will not be transferable. Present your voucher to the staff at the Nambucca Waste Management Facility and they will check your waste to ensure it fits within the guidelines and will ask you to confirm your name and address.
Please note that 1 voucher per 3m3 trailer load is allowed and all waste materials must be separated at the site accordingly.
